The Commissions Payroll Associate is an integral part of the Advisor Compensation & Support Services team, which reports directly to the Associate Manager. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for full cycle payroll processing including analysis and reconciliation. As well as interacting with various internal business units, advisors and external fund companies. We are seeking for someone who possesses great organizational skills, is enthusiastic, and can multi-task in our fast-paced environment!

At Investment Planning Counsel we’ve designed every aspect of the Commissions Payroll Associate role with you in mind.
What is the role of the Commissions Payroll Associate?
- Analyze, prepare and input payroll data, execute payments and remittances on a semi-monthly basis
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations
- Review, analyze and verify semi-monthly payroll for accuracy
- Balance and file reconcile against reports
- Ensure processes are followed according to CSOX (audit) controls
- Update scheduled reports and provide data analysis upon request
- Ensure data and transaction accuracy through validation process
- Maintain advisor records
- Deliver prompt, friendly and efficient customer service to all internal and external payroll inquiries (ex. advisors, team members, finance departments, government agencies)
- Complete internal/external audit requests as required
- Work with PMO for new operating system releases, testing where required
- Ad-hoc duties/projects as required
What traits and competencies should a Commissions Payroll Associate possess?
- Ability to accurately process payroll in a timely manner
- Accurate data entry with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, in a business environment
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Document and review payroll related procedures
- Professionalism, able to maintain a positive attitude and composure during stressful situations
- Exceptional capability of meeting deadlines and prioritizing workloads
- Accurate data entry with strong attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A genuine interest in the financial industry
- Highest level of confidentiality
What are the preferred qualifications for a Commissions Payroll Associate?
- Post-secondary diploma in Finance or Accounting is required
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is an asset
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive payroll & accounting experience within the Financial Industry, preferably within a dealership
- Completion of IFIC is an asset
