Our Marketing Communications team is currently growing! We’re seeking a Marketing Event Specialist – someone who is passionate about creating elevated client experiences for both virtual and in-person events.

At Investment Planning Counsel, we’ve designed every aspect of the Marketing Event Specialist role with you in mind.
What is the role of the Marketing Event Specialist?
- Support Event Manager with event concepts, sponsorship and logistics
- Manage the development of the event critical path ensuring all timelines and deliverables are met
- Manage the annual calendar of events and all associated elements: program management, operational management, implementation, and follow-up activities
- Design and maintain event website(s) including mobile applications
- Create integrated registration processes including client communication strategies
- Own and manage the Events section of the intranet (HUB)
- Execute virtual events in the host/producer role
- Source vendors as required for events
- Assist with the assembly of onsite event materials and support documents
- Support with logistical, room, and event details for each event as required
- Act as the communication lead for events
- Relationship liaison with the Business Development team
- Responsible for Continuing Education (CE) credit accreditation and inputting credits to the CE Centre
- Audit existing event processes to make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Document procedures and processes (SOPs) for all conference and event activities
- Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved
- Research, implement and manage technology platforms to ensure IPC conferences and events utilize industry best practices and modernization techniques
- Provide periodic reports, updates, and briefings to all stakeholders

What are the preferred qualifications for a Marketing Event Specialist?
- 3 - 4 years in a relevant Events position
- Post-secondary education in Marketing or Events
- Financial industry knowledge is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in an agile environment and effectively manage change
- Ability to work independently
- Strong people skills to effectively collaborate with other stakeholders
- Effective time management skills; ability to multi-task
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other event technology platforms
- Goal oriented at an individual and team level
This position will require occasional extended hours during weekdays and weekends and travel as required to attend off-site meetings.
This role will require some travel within Canada and the US; applicants must hold a valid passport.
